I retired from my dream job on July 16th, 2015. I was a Fire Lieutenant for the Baltimore County Fire Department, working at the Pikesville station #2, across from the Giant. I had 32 years there, plus 2 years as a Paramedic with the Baltimore City Fire Department.
I now work part time at Stevenson University as a shuttle driver and security officer.
I've been married to Kellie (Dunnigan) Roody since 1/20/85. We have a class A RV and love to travel. She now needs Kansas and I've hit every state in the US. We both need to go to Newfoundland/Labrador, then we've been to all 10 Canadian Provinces well. It might be tough getting the RV to Nunavut.
We did a dream Vacation in 2016. We spent a week in Hawaii with the family, then sent them home and continued west to Sydney Australia. We did 6 weeks in Australia and New Zealand, which included a 16 night cruise. Some of the highlights were snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, feeding kangaroos, holding a koala, toured the iconic Sydney Opera House, rode a camel through the Outback, near Ayers Rock and sightseeing in some of the wonderful cities in the world. We stayed in Sydney a total of 9 days, plus went to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne in Australia, plus Dunedin, Akaroa, Wellington, Auckland and Rotorua in New Zealand. There are a bunch of pictures on my FB page. If you ever get the chance, Sydney makes a great vacation. You can do much of the Australian experience there (can't hold a koala there or snorkel the Barrier Reef there). The people are friendly, the city is clean and east to get around in. It has the sophistication of New York City, but laid back.
In my travels, I've also seen baseball games in 50 MLB stadiums, including every one that's currently in uses/ It's been a great ride.
I am now a proud Grandfather of Paul Thomas Cornell (goes by Tommy) as of October 20th, 2019. It's really cool that he goes by his middle name, like I did and my father did. Linsey is his mother. (Pics are enclosed)
Sadly, our oldest daughter Mallory, passed away in her sleep on September 7th, 2021. Needless to say we were devastated and still feel the effects of it. Many from the class of 79 were there for me, and we appreciated it greatly.
It was great to see everyone, again.
Be well and be safe,
Allen Roody
