Shirley Nehrenberg (Mahood)

The family of Shirley Nehrenberg Mahood is greatly saddened to announce her departure from this life on June 19, 2020 in Phoeniz, AZ .  Sherley was born in Chicago, IL 10-21-1941 as the oldest child of Alvin and Evelyn Nehrenberg and raised in Bloomfield, NJ and Pittsburgh, PA where she graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School.  She attended Muskingum College in New Concord, OH (graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, cum Laude) and she also pursued graduate studies in literature at Cornell University upon her later move to NY.  Following a short stay in Columbus, OH where she was employed as an English teacher  at Whitehall-Yearling High School, Shirley and her husband, Chuck, transferred to the Southern Tier of NY state where they resided (except for a couple of international assignments) until moving to Arizona in 2002 to join family.  Shirley's career path included being a teacher of English and public speaking in the Union-Endicott school districk, a stockbroker, a travel agent, a Dale Carnegie graduate assistant, a teacher of English, psychology, and public speaking  at the Ridley Lowell Business Institute in Binghamton, NY, an instructor of continuing education courses, and a mediator.  She discovered her true calling, however, with the publication of her book, "Making Our Lives Work: Stradegies  to Lessen Stress and Build Self-Esteem".   The book and its accompanying seminar series were instrumental in helping people throughout the US and the UK find happier, more fulfilling lives despite life's challenges.  Shirley is very much missed by her immediate family (Chuck, daughters Diana and Wendy, siblings Paul and Linda), and her extended family and friends.  A Tripple Cities celebration of Shirley's life was held on 11-27-2021.
