went to grade school and high school with louis (les), but we always called him skender. his Dad was the athletic director at Duquesne Univ when they were a national powerhouse team..He was always well behaved and i can see why he had a succesful Army career. Thanks for your service Les to our country. like most, we don't stay in touch with one another and we grieve for the family, but what a pleasure to know how les turned out.

Les was a good friend in high school and we stayed in touch for several years.  He was a fine person and came from a warm and good family.

Blessings and sympathy to his family,

Bob Maxwell

Les and I were good friends during our pre- Mount Lebanon years. He lived across the road from Fort Couch Middle School. We often went to his house after school, where his family kept several horses in a back yard barn. I was a novice rider, and Les led me on some wild rides through the fields and woods behind his house. I recall swimming and canoeing together at his family’s summer cabin, and going to the opera together, when his mother, who was a subscriber, gave us her tickets to Mozart’s Così fan tutte.

As often happens, we gradually lost touch. I’m imagine his life was as adventurous and fun-filled as the time we spent together when we were young. May he rest in peace!
