Anne Witman (Baehr)

Anne Witman Baehr passed away suddenly early Sunday morning, July 18, 2021. Her husband, Joel, gave this news to Carolyn Newberger, who can be contacted by email at: cnewberger@me.com.  She will pass information along to him.  Ann was born in Columbus, OH June 27, 1941.  She was raised in Mt. Lebanon and graduated from Mt. Lebanon HS as a National Merit Scholar.  She will be remembered as the voice of morning announcements.  She went to Bryn Mawr College and graduated cum laude majoring in music.  There she met her husband, Joel Baher that was going to Haverford College.  They married in 1962.  They had two daughters.  Her husband and two daughters survive Ann. She continued her education with a Masters Degree from Wheelock College.  Her most recent job was Assiatant to the Vice President at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  Her colleagues remember her as a joy to work with.  She received several awards for her work.  Ann practiced Buddhism for decades and cultivated an active practice of meditation that augmented her natural iiclination to care for people and the world.  Ann was an ardent Boston Red Sox fan.  Ann spent her last years caring for her beloved husband Joel, who suffers from advanced Parkinson's Disease.  Her care enabled them to remainin in their home in Cambridge, MA.  Ann had an extraordinary capacity for generosity.  She regularly bestowed small thoughtful gifts on all who surrounded her, especially her four grandchildren.  On her 80th birthday on June 27th, she gave gifts to everyone who attended.  She knitted a blanket and gave it to a newborn neighbor a few days before she died.  Ann Witman Baehr will definately be missed.

Anne was a dear childhood friend whom I had the pleasure of seeing once in our advanced years when she and Barbara Irwin came to my house for a weekend visit. I will treasure that memory. She was a bright light in this world. My condolences to Joel and her family.
