I was wondering if anyone was going to put anything together for our 25th. I actually hadn't done the math yet to realize that is was 25 YRS THIS YEAR....time really does go fast. I see there were some people missing on the class list. Let me know of you need some help in remembering them all.

I added Chris and Dale Hodge, as they didn't actual graduate. I used a yearbook and newspaper of graduates page, if I forget anyone else you can think of let me know.
New thought since you are not into camping idea, Connie talked to clasmates at Fred's Memorial and thats what they came up with.
Maybe we could do camping bonfire Friday with Familys and Dinner on Sat night somewhere or Vice-Versa Anyone can come to either or both.
Anyone you know please call them and have them contact me517-639-9005 to update their profile or have them go on and do it themselves.
Thanks for the info and update, I hope this works out and is a valuable tool for our class to stay updated forever.

For Inquiring Minds:

Devo
was formed in Akron, Ohio, in 1972. Their style of music was known as punk, art rock, and post punk. They are remembered for their 1970's and 1980's New Wave sound. They were one group which helped introduce the synth pop sound of the 1980's. They were also pioneers to the music video world. They created many clips which were very popular in the early days of MTV.

Devo was first known as Sextet Devo which performed at the 1973 Kent State performing Arts Festival. The members consisted of Gary Casale, Bob Lewis, Mark Mothersbaugh, Geralds brother Bob Casale (guitar player), and their friends, Rod Reisman and Fred Weber (drums and vocals). This lineup only performed one time and when Devo returned to perform in the Student Governance Center. The lineup consisted of the Casale brothers, Bob Lewis, Mark and Jim Mothersbaugh. The group released their best known hit called, Whip it, and it reached the Top 40 immediately after it was released.

The Devos continued to release albums such as, New Traditionalists in 1981, Oh, No! Its Devo in 1982, and Shout In 1984. Shout was a commercial failure and their record label, Warner Bros. Dropped them from their label. Shortly after that Alan Meyers left the band and the band shut down for two years.

In 1987 the band reformed with David Kendrick as their new drummer. They recorded for the soundtrack of the horror movie called, Slaughterhouse Rock. They had also previously collaborated with Basil on her album, Word of Mouth, in 1982. She was also in a relationship with Gerald Casale. The group released the album, Total Devo, in 1988 on the Enigma Records label. Two of the songs on the album were used in the Slaughterhouse Rock movie and the song, Baby Doll (also from the album), was used in the movie, Tapeheads. After that the band went on tour.

Devo toured from August,2006 until November, 2006. They also toured in the U. K. and performed at the Brighton Dome in East Sussex on June 18, 2007. They also appeared in Barcelona just 2 days prior to that. They also appeared in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, Ireland, and in Bergamo and Azzano, Italy.

In an interview with Gerald Casale, in April, 2007, it was announced that they had an upcoming project for a movie about Devos earlier days. The script is tentatively called, The Beginning Was the End. The production has not been confirmed yet. Casale also stated that there was new material in the works. Devo recorded a new song called, Watch Us Work it, in 2007 and it was featured in a commercial for Dell. In July it was announced that there would be a full length music video for the song soon. Their song called, Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy, will be featured in the upcoming skateboard video game called, Skate.

I hope that I will be able to attend, but the current date set fot the reunion is looking like I might not be able to attend. I've already planned vacation for the first week of July. Not sure If I can get the 19th off. I might be able to talk my supervisor into letting me go. I have the time, but, other people in my department may want the time off as well.

Kevin, What is this Devo all about? Is this something you were getting started or planning on joining, maybe have someone related to you in it? What is the big deal? I'm sorry but that group doesn't sound familiar to me, nor does Slaughterhouse Rock. Maybe I've slept since then, but I could have sworn I'd been awake most of those years.

I need a definate date for this reunion or you all won't get to see me. As far as I can tell not many will be coming. Which is sad, because we all spent nearly 18 years together sort of a family if you will.

Devo is an evil form of music that twists people's minds into a form of slavemaster that will make people create cruel and unusual forms of punishment.

Kevin has been under it's spell since about 1980 or so.....likely he somwhere still has his red devo cap..eh kev???

04/29/08 03:14 PM #8

John Taylor

The only effective means to counter the evil DEVO spell is to chant three times -

If you think I'll sit around while you chip away my brain
Listen I ain't foolin and you'd better think again
Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had
You think Ill let it go you're mad
You got another thing comin'

Well, Thanks for clearing that up for me Kim & John. I'm sure I've heard that somewhere along the way and just forgotten I guess. I was more into country music since my Dad had his own band. But Dad has passed on in 1994 so he don't sing anymore, wished he had passed on some of his talent instead.

I will be attending the reunion. I've scheduled the 17th thru the 20th to be there. Sure hope I didn't scare any of you into not coming.

I went through my old stuff and found one of my old folders, in which, I found an old Paradox from our graduation year I will scan it into my media folder and post them here on the web site. Well, I scanned them in but was unable to post them here. I did send them to Debbie though.

Dear John T and K. Woods:

In this Devo world we're livin' in we have our share of sorrow Answer now is don't give in aim for a new de-evolutionary day tomorrow.

Sorry, 1982, Judas Priest, Screamin for Vengence Album, "Youve Gotta Another thing Commin" is not the antedote. can't we just all get along. I am a very big Judas Priest Fan and have enjoyed their concerts as well as the Devo concert that Kim woudln't go to so I took the next best thing her Sister Kelly. I see that Kim still is regretting not attending the Devo event of a lifetime in the MSU Audotorium.

K.

K and J
Many of my fondest memories are related to music. Kevin making me sing with a DEVO cap on built character...similar to Mr. Pelham making me hold a tarantula in the eigth grade and John writing the lyrics to every Judas Priest song then published on my notebook every day...ah the wisdom of rock. As far as concerts...I think we made it to our fair share, however I have always regretted not attending that DEVO concert, as Kel ribbed me how fun it was...Luckily Devo and Judas Priest are touring together this summer for the landmark
"Hell Bent for Leather and Red Domes" It's the best of two old school genre's. Maybe we can get them to stop in at the Moose Lodge in July! Kimba.

Kim, isn't that the WHIPPING THE HELL BENT LEATHER tour?

Workin in a coalmine...going down down
Workin in a coalmine...whew about to slip down

Somehow I don't think those have quite the same impact as Rob Halford 'screaming for vengence' in your face! :) I've always been more partial to the heavier sound. When I play guitar, it's usually the heavier stuff.

Mr. Taylor...start chanting!

Hi guy's, looks like ya'all had a great time at the reunion. I want to thank everyone who has or will post pictures for those of us who could not attend. I have enjoyed my trip down memory lane through all the pictures. I am missing everyone and wish I could of attended. But life happens. See ya'all in 5 years.

I hope I'll be around in five years. I'll be 48. Had a great time at the reunion. Was glad to get to see all of you that showed up. If I didn't recognize some of you I appologize. It was wonderful to see some of our teachers, I would have liked to have seen Mrs. Kay Franks, our fourth grade teacher. She was always nice to me and I aided for her class for two years. Time changes most and we don't have to let it change us all. Thanks to all of you that were there for welcoming me home again. It was great.

Willis 'Will' Howard

Ya better be there Sandi...:) You and my wife will have lots to talk about - she's a stylist also.

It was a good time. It was actually the first one I've been to and I certainly plan on being at the 30 (as long as I'm still above ground!).

It was great to see everyone - even though I didn't get a chance to catch up with all of you. I hope that those who couldn't be there this year, will make it to the next one...and I certainly do miss those that have passed on before us.

I was on Reunion.com and found Fred Cornet had been there and posted his profile. Didn't know when he had done it as I didn't check it out. I wonder if anyone had thought to go through and check stuff like that. Very Interesting.

Do you think we will still be alive in 2013? According to a website I was on, Planet Nibiru will be here in 2012 and if it smacks the earth like it supposedly has in the past, there'll be no more reunions. This planet comes around every 3600 years and the last time it was here it supposedly hit the earth. I could be wrong though. Interesting topic. Go check it out and see what you can find out. I plan on visiting that site again but not sure which one I was on. I typed in the search browser "Planet Nibiru" and waited to see what came up. There were several choices to click on so feel free to explore. Come back here and post what you learned.

The end of the electronic age was supposed to come when it turned 2000 and that didn't happen, I think most of us will be around. That is if we make it through our own teenagers years!!

02/20/09 07:45 PM #20

I hope we'll be around. I'm sorry to hear about Tena McCloth. I remember her well. Sad to hear about someone so young. Do we know why she went to see her Lord on that day?

03/02/09 11:47 PM #21

Debbie Knapp (Wilkinson)

Tena had Heart Surgery on Feb 3rd do a bypass, ended up with a fever and seizers the next day, was eventually put on a ventilator and never made it off. The family took her off on February 16th and passed shortly after.
I believe it should have been a routine surgery that wasn't routine.
