What a great time we had at the picnic!  Sorry that my husband and I couldn't make it to the Friday & Saturday night activities.  It was great seeing everyone, kids we went all thru school school. Thanks Martie Martin for bringing the classroom school pictures from kindergarten thru 6 grade.  It was so wonderful. Thank you who drove, flew to come to the reunion.  I do think that we all agree that it was worth it. Thanks to J.V., John Nicholson, Aimee, Teddy and all the others on the Reunion Committee for a great memory of today that I will cherish.

Well, it was even more amazing than I imagined it would be.  It was SO MUCH FUN, and so rewarding to discover, after 40 years, that as teenagers we had chosen great people to be our friends and that we still like eachother!!  I'm still grinning.

And JV - that cook-out was smashing.  You did a great job.

Saturday night was so much fun.  It made me feel warm as I shared stories and updates with such great, caring people.  Thank goodness Marc Zell hasn't changed, his remarks dropped me back 40 years in a perfect way!

What can I say.....The three day class of 70 reunion was absolutely awesome!  I just could not believe the crowd at the flag pole Friday afternoon and just how far away folks came from to be there. I knew that we were going to have a super weekend.  The game was a good one, even though I only saw two plays.  Classmates and families truly enjoyed the kick off to the reunion.

Saturday night was special.  The evening presented so many opportunities to remember the past and catch up on 40 years of stories and stories etc.  So much fun!  Remembering those who have left us so early, and talking about families and friends that we may have lost touch with kept me thinking of what an awesome class we have.  By the end of Saturday night, I felt like it was 1970 all over again.  The video of all the pictures of the class and sporting events brought me back instantly.

The cook out at JV's was  a perfect way to end a perfect weekend.  Great food, great friends and more great stories.  This truly is just the start of the next 40 years of more memories and wonderful times meeting together as the WCHS class of 70!  I can't wait til the next reunion....Rick.

i am still flyin high from the most amazing and wonderful reunion weekend! i could go on and on, but rick bradley said it all SO much better and more articulately than i ever could. without all the exclamation marks, too. not only did i reunite with old friends, but i made new friendships with classmates that i only casually knew or didn't know at all. it was just wonderful! thank you all so much for making it so special . i think we all felt so welcomed and included, at least i hope so. for those of you with whom i didn't connect, let's do it next time around. you are all fantastic people with whom it is a privilege to be associated! as cheree said, we ARE the bulldogs!! love to you all. kay

I thought this reunion was one of the greatest weekends ever!  It was great to see people from the classes of 1968 through 1971.  Thanks to the committee for doing a wonderful job putting this all together.  I know it took alot of work.  My wife and children felt like they were part of my class!  Thank you.  The class of Winston Churchill H.S.  1970 will be in my heart forever!

I never imagined my 40th High School Reunion would be so much fun!  I know a lot of people worked very hard to make it happen and it surely was appreciated by everyone there.  I too had a hard time connecting some faces with the past, but other people looked like they just stepped out the front door of Churchill!  Amazing!  The greatest part was that everyone was so excited to see each other.  I was talking to so many people and having so much fun, I forgot I brought my camera with me.  I came home with 2 photographs!  But all the pictures on the http://www.portraitphotographer.com/1970/ website that Gary took were better than what I would have taken.  I was so glad to see that people don't really change much at all--I love you guys and if there is another reunion in 10 years, I certainly will be there.  One comment I made to Scott was that if we ever move back to DC, I know I will have more friends around than I could have ever dreamed of.  Thank you for being such great people!

Fellow Classmates,

I just checked out some of your "profiles/chats" and sincerely wished that I could have made the reunion. We had a wonderfully diverse student body that went on to accomplish some amazing things. I am a real estate agent in Colorado and a professional poker player that has had better years. I played the Main Event of the WSOP in 2008 and lasted three days and the $2500 No Limit Holdem Event in 2010 and got "bad beated" in both. I have been told that friends have seen me on T.V. but my appearances were brief. I would love to hear from some of my WCHS friends.

as the year comes to a close, i count among the blessings of this past year the opportunity to reconnect with many of you. when it gets right down to it, we haven't changed that much. but we have matured and aged, like fine wine. there will be many changes in store for us in the coming year-kids' marriages, grandkids, aging parents taking a turn, health and financial challenges, anniversaries- who knows what. but the good news is that in all of it, we have the opportunity to invite and accept God's love, comfort, wisdom, joy, peace, hope and goodness into each and every situation. my prayer for all of us is that we discover a deeper relationship with the God who created the universe, the God who created you and me, and the God who came into this world in and through Jesus, and to trust Him more fully with our lives. HAPPY NEW YEAR WCHS CLASS OF 1970!

Folks

Tonight was fantastic.  The bar was full and at least 25-30 people were from our class.  It's a  win-win-win situation.  Thank you all so much for showing your support.  We will continue to provide.

Thank you all for the wonderful notes of encouragement and support you sent me due to the nomination of the Emmy Award.

Unfortunately we missed it by a couple of points and did not win but we had a wonderful time at the awards banquet.  It is still a big honor to have gotten nominated.

It has been 48 years since i played basketball at WCH. It has only been several days since i thought of WCH friends who have passed away. As i watch Duke kick Georgia Tech's butt's tonight, i think back to the time when our incredible 1968 junior varsity team, coached by C.C. Smith, won the ABC championship. The varsity played next and lost. It was very hard to feel sad for them when I was so happy for our JV team victory. I think of all of us "gym rats," waiting at the Bradley Elementry school for the gym to open at 11am in the winter. This is where the memories began, friendships solidified for life and playing ball for our school, friends, fans and beautiful cheerleaders in the stands was easy. I also remember in 69 when the "super-subs," scored 11 points in 22 seconds after the varsity first string had already won the game. Rick Bradley, you were there! I remember the hamburgers and fries, that we all ate on the way to ice skating on the C & O after a victory. I do not remember the games as much as I do the friendships.

Steve! Those are really awesome memories. I remember that game also! I do remember the french fries hamburgers and ice-skating at the canal thanks for making me recall them.

Keep those memories flowing because they are great ones! Oh by the way, I went to a churchill basketball game two weeks ago. It was awesome to be there and think of the memories firsthand! Talk soon, Rick.

Jack Trunnel was such a gentle and sincere man.  He was so sweet and genuine and eager to talk more about you than himself.  Though i didnt see him but a few times since greaduation, each time I did he gave me his big smile and warm hug, and I was transported back to the old days. My heart goes out to his family and close friends who lost him muh too early.  This aging thing still doesn't get easier, does it? So let's all be sure to make the most of each day by loving well and living gratefully.
