Mike DeVaney
WELLINGTON-Michael Ervin DeVaney, age 52, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2014.
He was born April 16, 1961 in Price, Utah to Charles and Carolyn Erickson DeVaney.
Married Yessnia Romero, later divorced. Married Lori Reiners, she passed away August 22, 2010. On May 25, 2013, he married Rebecca “Becky” Giddings in Elmo, Utah and she has been by his side during his recent illnesses.
Mike was a longtime resident of Wellington and a member of the Wellington Fire Department for 21 years. He was a graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1979. He shared a special passion for the outdoors and riding dirt bikes. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and during the off-season he loved watching the Denver Bronco’s and the Utah Jazz. He was a dedicated employee of Donathan Excavation in North Dakota and a former employee of Pierce Oil. Mike made many lasting friendships. Whether at work or play, you could always count of him.
Mike was a friend to all and he was always ready for the next big adventure. He loved kids and was a kid at heart. Mike will be sorely missed by his family and many longtime friends.
Survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” DeVaney, Wellington; children, Chris (Alesia) DeVaney and their daughter Remany, all of Price, Mandy (Gavin) McKenna, Salt Lake City, Jonathan Giddings DeVaney, Wellington, Mary Romero, Mexico; mother, Carolyn Nelson, Seattle, WA; brother, Lonnie (Bonnie) DeVaney, West Jordan; and many other loving extended family members.
Preceded in death by his father Charles DeVaney; wife, Lori DeVaney; son, Angel; grandparents, Ervin and Grace Erickson and aunt, Lola Nelson.
Funeral service Saturday, February 15, 2014, 12:00 noon, Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Mike at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
