In Memory

Richard Mosca

Mosca, Richard- Age 78, of Marshfield, passed away on October 2, 2023. Richard was born in Quincy on August 10, 1945. He graduated as Class President from North Quincy High School and continued his education at Boston State where he met his wife Lois. Upon graduation, the two taught Spanish alongside each other for the Town of Weymouth. Their shared love of art, world culture & food drove the two to organize countless trips abroad for their many students over the years. Running into former students, which happened regularly up to his passing, would always be the highlight of his day.

After the Blizzard of 78’ destroyed their home, the two moved to Scituate, where they raised their son Richard A. They continued their love of travel, taking trips all over the world. Before Lois’s passing, the two retired in Marshfield to live down the street from their son, daughter in law, and four grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Lois. He is survived by his son Richard A. Mosca and his wife Kristine Mosca of Marshfield. He is the cherish “Papa” of Madison, Richard Charles, Paige and Lincoln Mosca.

Richard’s gourmet cooking and his kitchen full of gadgets will be missed. His latest jokes that he looked up and wrote down to tell his grandkids will hilariously live on. Richard will forever be missed but will never be forgotten by all who knew him as a father, grandfather and teacher.

Richard’s family invites you to attend visiting hours at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road in Scituate, MA. on Monday October 16th from 9am-10:30am with a Funeral mass to follow at St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street in Scituate at 11am.

Richie was a good friend in high school.  He lived at the top of my street, and (I think) worked "up the downs" at the A & P, and  I worked up the street at Bono's.  Richie McNeice also worked at Bono's, and at McClellan's across from the A & P.  So we saw each other fairly frequently..

I remember a skit Paula (Kelly) Mazzone, Richie and I put on for the Manet show.  If my memory serves me correct, Paula and I were dressed as "guys" and Richie was a woman with balloons for breasts.  We did some sort of dance to music, not sure what it was, but probably a risque "stripper" song.  The finale was Paula and/or I sticking a pin in the balloons.  The class got a big kick out of it; the teachers were not pleased at all.

Richie was Treasurer of our senior class, and President of the Spanish Honor Society.

Sad to know that Richard passed.  I thought he was hilarious in high school and afterwards we did share some laughs as well.  What a fun person!  I loved that the family mentioned his sense of humor in his obit.  I'm glad to know that never changed.

I remember Richie very well and always enjoyed our interactions. He was a good friend and it is sad to hear of his death. I know that we all have to go sometime but that does not make it any easier.
