Not sure how well you may have known Mike. I think he could be considered shy

Mike was one of my favorite people and best friends since 7th grade. He died with cancer the morning of Oct. 4, 2022.

My VERY FOND memories are of playing pick-up basketball at Lion’s Park; once accompanying him on his paper route; his sharp, abundant wit and he (a Duke fan) and I being taunted, mercilessly, by Abe (a UCLA / Lew Alcindor fan) in the halls at Enloe.

A long time resident of Danville, Mike was an N C State mechanical engineering graduate. He worked in South Boston, VA most of his career, serving as a plant manager much of that time. He has several patents to his credit. Even through the last weeks of September, he continued his daily commute to South Boston to prepare his replacement.

Years ago, I had the opportunity to meet his four, wonderful kids in their youth. They were at his side when he closed his eyes for the last time.on this morning.
