Gregory Texter - Class Of 1965

 

 

Gregory W. Texter, 67, of Lower Heidelberg Township, died September 25, 2014 at 4:00 a.m. at the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia S. (Focht) Texter. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William E. and Stella B. (Zdunowski) Texter. He was in the first graduating class of Holy Name High School and received his BS from Temple University. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and worked at Carpenter Technology for over 25 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. John Baptist de LaSalle R.C. Church, Shillington, Slovak Catholic Sokols, and the American Legion. He was a lifelong golfer with a low handicap, and also enjoyed gourmet food and travel. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by two children, Jennifer R. Texter of Shillington, and Benjamin W. Texter of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: David P. Texter, husband of Jean of Millersville; Mark S. Texter, husband of Linda of Sinking Spring; Kathleen M., wife of David Kline of Sinking Spring; and Marybeth, wife of John Ibach of Reading. There are also many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Rev. Stephen Halabura, celebrant. Entombment in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. Viewing will be held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-9:30 a.m. at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington.
