Lana Jane Rylee (57) passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and close friends on September 24, 2012. She fought a brave battle against a horrid disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's). She was born in Ceres, CA on March 13, 1955. She moved to Shasta County in 1960. She grew up on Court Street, went to Magnolia Elementary, Sequoia Middle School and Shasta High School. Lana married her soul mate, Russ on June 24, 1972, recently celebrating 40 years together. She worked as an instructional aide for many years at local schools, and then decided to go back to college when her daughters were in high school. She knew she wanted to become a teacher and make a difference in children's lives.

She graduated from Simpson University in 1993. She went on to get her master's degree from National University, and then her Doctor of Education in 2005 from the University of Southern California. She worked as a teacher, vice principal, and principal for Redding School District. She loved children, and was an inspirational educator. It was evident everywhere she went as children and parents would come up to her to say hello. Being a loving wife, mom, and grandma was paramount to Lana. Her professional career was important but it came second to her family. She was beyond exceptional in all her roles in life. Her favorite joy in life was spoiling all her granddaughters. Lana was also a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt. She loved shopping and was generous to many around her. She also was a true Disney nut. Lana and Russ's first trip together was to Disneyland, and they made a point to try and go every year, sometimes several times. We all have loving memories of Disneyland and Disney World with her. She would always say "it was the happiest place on earth". She would rub her hands together and get a big grin on her face. Lana was not one to sit still, and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. Lana also loved to play tour guide for those who went on trips with her. She truly was a special person, and we will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Russ Rylee. Daughter Kymberly Angulo, son-in-law Rafael of Medford Oregon, and daughter Katherine Carlson, son-in-law Erick, of Redding CA. Granddaughters: Natalie, Gracie, Sofia, and Julia Angulo, Madeline & Annie Carlson. Brothers: Morris Eagleman of Mt. Shasta, CA. and Jim Eagleman of Redding CA. Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nettie Eagleman, and her grandson, Rylee Carlson.
