Reunion Main Event 10/11

Our Classmate Marcia Stewart aka Melia Shell recorded this and was on the keyboard, along with Patrick Ballard on Mandolin.  She is sharing this with all of her classmates.  Enjoy.

OUR 50TH REUNION (THE MAIN EVENT ON SATURDAY)

It started with pulling into the parking lot and seeing that 50's Oldsmobile parked in the parking lot with the EHS sign in the window.  It followed with walking into a beautifully decorated hall, signing in, grabbing our name tags, having our picture taken and finding a table.  We had 130 strong in that hall, all to celebrate with each other 50 years since our graduation from high school.  It was as though time had stood still and we were all a big family, all of us hugging, shaking hands and clinging to each other, not wanting to let go in some cases.  Some of us had changed, but there always was something about each of us that someone remembered.

We saw a 15 minute video showing us then and now.  Do you remember the Lollipop Boys???  Well there they were in all their glory, mugging for the camera.  The video had some scenes around town, the old Baker's, Dairy Queen, Tastee Freeze, Wig Wams, some scenes from our yearbook and pictures our classmates had sent to us. The video got us in the mood for more.  And there was more.

Dinner was served and it was delicious.  Cam Monk and his wife, Elise, brought wine from their wine cellar and placed 2 bottles on each table, 1 red, 1 white and uncorked each one for us.  We had a choice of Beef Brisquit served aus jus, Chicken Medallion, Cheese Ravioli, green beans almondine, salad, sweet potato rounds, rolls with cheese and garlic and for desert there was brownie sundae.

John Blair spoke very movingly about our class, Viet Nam, our EHS boys going off to war and ended with a musical tribute by Jackson Browne "Standing in the Breach" about us.  It was all very emotional.

Gayle Medley performed a tribute to our Veterans and had all the Veterans stand to be acknowledged.  The music was beautifully chosen and patriotic. Our In Memory Board was talked about and all those 51 that we knew that we had lost.  Barbara Koch Badger (our very own EHS Poet Laureate) read an essay she had written about our class which will be posted for all to see on another page all its own.  It was written and presented beautifully.  Lastly, we had a raffle.  The numbers were picked out of a basket by our 2 EHS 1964 beauty queens (Homecoming), Judy Wyant Conroy and Cherriann Fellicetta.  The proceeds went to an EHS scholorship fund.

There was also an introduction of those who were Sponsors of our reunion.  As their names were read off, Earlene Hoover Dudley and Evelyn Perkins handed out the Oldies/Surf Music CD's.  We all got to pass the mike around and say a little something about ourselves.  There was applause all around for everyone in our class.

We had a surprise guest attend our reunion.  Ms. Alice Willett Wuerch, the girls PE teacher at RJH joined us.  What a thrill it was to see her.  All "her" girls had their picture taken with her and it will be in the Memory book.  Ms. Willett is now 81 years old, spry with laughing blue eyes.

Our photographer took our senior class picture, which will be in the Memory Book The reunion committee had their picture taken with the check we were presenting to EHS and out by the 50's Oldsmobile, both of which will be in the Memory Book.

For those who could not attend through no fault of their own, you were not forgotten.  You were mentioned by all of us and thought about.  For those who did not choose to come for one reason or another, you missed one great reunion.

I will be adding video to this page as soon as I can get it over to YouTube and then link it back here.  There will be more pictures added as they come in to me.
