Thank you to Julie and the organizers of the 2015 Reunion.  A delightful evening of reconnecting through all too brief conversations.  It seems that the essence of each of us was there 40 years ago and that all this time doesn't fundamentally alter the bedrock of our basic nature.  We remain more or less true to our individual charters, reinforcing (in my estimation) the role of nature over nurture.

The sporadic frequency of these encounters (only my 3rd trip back in 40 years), along with the changes as we age, leads me to conclude Shakespeare had recently attended a reunion when he (Macbeth) wrote: "Out, out brief candle.  Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage...."

On to 2020!

Rob

Rob, you are a dear.

My only regret on Saturday, was that there were so many people with whom I didn't properly visit, and you were one!  Just to simply catch up and find out how your family is, how your "doctoring" is going, how many miles a week you bike, etc.  I'm making a promise to do it next time.  Maybe by then I'll have something exciting or interesting to share!

I think you are absolutely correct about our natures, 40 years later, being somewhat the same.  I also like the Shakespeare quote.  Aside from the obvious ones, this one comes to mind, "Hell is empty and all the devils are here".  Surely he wasn't talking about this past weekend!!!  Ha!

I'm delighted you came, Rob, and really hope you can do it again in 5 short years.

Friends forever,  Julie

Request to Gull Lake HS Class of 1975:

Please send a “Thinking of You” card to Don Myers.  He has ALS—a terminal illness that paralyses muscles but spares the mind.  He is declining rapidly—currently bedridden.  Hearing from old classmates via a card, or a phone call (he’s fine on the phone thus far), would be much appreciated, I’m sure.  He never had children, was an only child, and his parents are deceased.  Blessedly, a wonderful cousin and her family who lived in another state have moved in to care for him in his last days.

I know it can be hard to think of what to talk about with someone who is dying, so in case it’s helpful to know what his interests are, he loves sports—baseball especially, he was a star softball player—collections (he collects antique bottles, cans, and coins), dogs (especially beagles), nature (he built and put up hundreds of birdhouses, his family donated their land to create a nature preserve), etc.

His address is:  8908 East G Ave, Kalamazoo 49048.
Phone:   #269-665-7893

Thanks much for anything you can do to brighten his day, Barb Barrett Lucas

Not many of us can say we have a room dedicated in our name, or a plaque hung in our honor!  We're proud of you Doug Bogema!  Well done, friend!

Hello Doug!

Congratulations on your recent award!  Impressive to say the least.

Also many thanks to you for the excellent care you gave to my mom, Dora Phillips, with her car over the years. We are very grateful.

Most Sincerely Sue Phillips Smejkal
