Hello to everyone!
The magic words you've all been waiting for! The per person amount for our 50th reunion on October 4th will be $75 (like Stacey said, 75 is OUR number, right!). September 1st is the deadline. I'd like to spend an obscene amount of verbiage explaining our costs to you. These figures are based on 100 people (we hope!!)
We are only charging folks for the venue cost - $1272.00 = $12.72 per person.
The bartender cost (we have to have two tenders since there will be more than 50 people) - $300 = $3.00 per person.
And finally the dinner cost (this gets complicated) - could be as much as $7876.00 = $78.76 per person. (this amt includes a 22% mandatory gratuity).
All total, $94.48 per person. We do not want you to be saddled with this huge amount, so we're keeping it at $75 and hoping we can receive some nice donations (added to the ones we've already received!! Thank you!!). If we don't get donations, we currently have $2525 in savings to cover the overage. We have until a couple weeks prior to the 4th to determine what we're having for dinner, and by then we'll know what's what in the money department!
Also, things like a cake, decorations for float and party, food other than the reunion, so many miscellaneous supplies, are all part of every gathering that we like and need to have, so we'll be watching the money in savings very carefully before spending!
A reminder of other activities that will be happening!
- Friday, Oct 3 is Homecoming, so we'll be in the pregame parade and hope if you feel like walking with us you'll join. We'd like to have a small tailgate party with snacks, but haven't heard if we're allowed.
- Following the game, Stacey and Tim will have us over at their home for a bonfire (weather permitting). BYOB and snacks if you'd like, or just bring yourself!
- Friday or Saturday, Dave Adamski is heading up a golf outing (again, weather permitting). He'll check to see which day is better, probably Saturday and probably 9 holes. If you have an interest in playing you can email Dave directly, dadamski@tds.net. We'll definitely send more info as we know it.
- Saturday (probably) Matt Kollig and Julie Split are putting together a Pickleball play. No specifics yet, but if you have an interest you can text Matt at 269-615-0454.
- Saturday 6 to 11:00 **REUNION**
- Sunday a.m. tours of old Kellogg school, old high school (now middle school), and new high school / fine arts auditorium. We haven't heard from the superintendent, but hope this comes into fruition.
- Sunday noonish, meeting at The Dock at Bayview for brunch, lunch, or bloody Mary bar! Our final goodbye for this gathering!
In August we'll be sending out a link to Pop Up Shop so anyone can order their own GL tee's and/or sweatshirts!
We're 50 years out! We want this weekend gathering to be extra special with several options for everyone! We'll absolutely continue to have a reunion every 5 years, but this one will be our last "biggie", which is why we're trying to do many things and do them "up"! The subsequent ones will be much more casual and relaxed! Phew!
Stacey will be sending a separate letter soon with other good information in it!!
I'm sorry this is so dang long, but we really want transparency so everyone knows where your dollars are going!! And of course to let you know about the itinerary. We WILL be in touch again with more details and finalizing.
Also a quick thank you to the Dave's, the Julie's, the Matt's, and many others who wish to remain anonymous (you know who you are!) who jump in to help us! You're rockstars!
Please send your $75 per person, (and any donations anytime), to Julie Pixley, 10888 N 40th St, Hickory Corners, MI 49060. I also have a Venmo account - Julie-Pixley
Hugs all around and let's have FUN!
