So sorry to hear. Didn't know Raymond, but I knew of the band. He was good - real good. He will be missed.

From King Edward & the BD's Band - It is with deep sadness that we have to inform our BD's fans and family of the passing of our "ORGINIAL" King Edward and His BD's Band drummer, Markham Crump, who passed away in his sleep after complications of throat cancer on March 23, 2010. Markham had a passion for drumming that was hard to explain. He enjoyed playing behind a set of drums more than anything and you could tell by the energy he produced when he performed. Markham was one of the most dynamic drummers in the Richmond, VA area in the late 1960's. His unique style of playing added the strong drive that gave the BD's their dynamic sound at the very beginning of the bands history.

Markham will be missed but not forgotten. For those of us that have King Edward and His BD's 45's or CD's that the current band sells, he will continue to live in our hearts.

Markham, now that you are in heaven, hook up with Bill Deal and make some sweet beach music until we all get there. The way Markham liked to play- "No shoes, No shirt, No problem" Play on forever!!!

King Edward & the BD's Band

From King Edward & the BD's Band - Markham will be buried at the Virginia Veteran's Cemetery located at 10300 Pridesville Rd (rt-681) Amelia Court House, Va. where a grave service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Markham was a Navy veteran and will be buried with military honors.

As the BD's original drummer, Markham helped produce a strong dynamic drive that helped make the BD's a piece of music history in the state of Virginia. He will be missed.

Markham will be laid to rest in a BD's band shirt along with an original King Edward & his BD's Band photo. Our current drummer, Steve Bloom has donated a pair of his drum sticks that were used at a recent BD's show and will be placed with Markham.

Say a prayer and give our brother a final farwell and honor him for his service to our country.

Friends of Markham and BD's fans are welcome at tomorrows service.

Ed Martin
