Ray Elizabeth Overton (Dean)

Elizabeth passed away on January 25, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was survived by her husband of 19 years James T. Dean Sr., the love of her life. She was also survived by her children Katrina Steffy and husband John of Ashland, VA, and Thomas Dean of Falls Church, VA, grandchildren Tabatha Mills of Henrico, VA, and Walker Steffy of Ashland, VA, sister Brenda Watkins and husband Peter, niece Kimberly Watkins and nephew Brian Watkins, all of Valrico, FL. Elizabeth was graduated with a bachelor's degree from Longwood College and earned a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She taught Spanish for 20 years at Highland Springs High School, was a guidance counselor for 10 years at Varina High School, and, after retiring, board subbed for 10 years as a guidance counselor at various high schools in Henrico County.  She greatly enjoyed her longtime membership and term as president of Iota State, the Virginia chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She also loved teaching the Faith and Joy Sunday School Class, working with the children's choir, and playing the piano for her church.
