I never got to say goodbye to Kathy.  After she left San Diego where we frequently got together with our toddlers, we lost touch.  Kathy lived on Langley across the Street from Rowe Street where my family lived until the end of my Junior year and I was a frequent drop in at the Cox house!  She had the front bedroom decorated in pink checkers so I could rap on the window to let her know I was on the front porch. Later I used her house to cut through to the alley to meet Steve Martin secretly when my dad said I could not see him anymore.  We all know how that worked out! It was through Kathy that I met Karen Marker and Pat Cozzucoli.  Thanks for your friendship and love, Kathy.

My earliest memories of China Lake are of dancing in the sprinklers with Cathy and Karen Marker in Cathy's front yard. Our parents were married in a double wedding ceremony in Las Vegas (probably got a serviceman's discount). She is one of the reasons growing up in China Lake was such a great experience. Rest in peace Cathy.

Cathy lived across the alley from me when we were growing up on the base. She lived on Langley and I lived on Independence. Our parents were best friends and her Dad was at our house watching the Friday night fights or playing poker with my stepdad all the time.  One time they were transferring a rattlesnake they brought back from the ranges into a big container for Mr. Brubaker (he would take them to UCLA to have anti-serum made)and it got loose. It was "lost" in our house for a few days and my mother was not happy! We were good friends and she left us too early in life.
