Robert J. Teitscheid, M.D.

Robert Jerome Teitscheid, M.D., died June 21, 1997. While jogging on Christian Valley Road near Auburn.  He had lived in Auburn for 11 years, was a member of the Placer Medical Society and been in practice for 21 years.

Dr. Teitscheid was a native of St. Paul Minn., born Feb. 17, 1950.

A coroner’s report states that Dr. Teitscheid went out jogging as was his custom on Saturday morning when he was stricken with a heart attack.  A passerby who saw Dr. Teitscheid collapse gave cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and additional medical assistance was provided by a rescue team from the California Division of Forestry.

Dr. Teitscheid was pronounced dead after being taken to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn.  The coroner’s report indicated that he suffered from a condition that caused narrowing of the arteries to the heart

Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Webdell said the family of Dr. Teitscheid was not notified until Sunday because there was difficulty identifying him due to the fact he had no photo or other form of identification, while jogging.

Dr. Teitscheid was a member or the Auburn Mounted Assistance Unit and coached basketball and baseball for the Auburn Area Recreation District.

He was also a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Allergy and Immunology and the American College of Rheumatology.

Dr. Teitscheid graduated from the University of California at Irvine and served a fellowship at the U.C. Davis Rheumatology and Allergy.  He served a residency at the University of California at Los Angeles and Kern County, and also for one year at Christchurch in New Zealand.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Teitscheid of Auburn; son, Kurt; daughter, Amy; brothers Terrance of Westminster, Co., Tom of Oceanside and Danny of Newport Beach; and a sister, Barbara Brown of Falls Church, VA.

Memorial contributions to a trust fund for Amy and Kurt at U.S. Bank may be left with the staff of Lassila Funeral Chapels who are handling arrangements.
