Cheryl Polley Briscoe

After graduation I spent two years at PBJC and then ended up, through no fault of my own, in Tulsa, OK. Finished school at the Univ of Tulsa. (I think their mascot was an oil derrick...) Met my future ex at the university. He later joined the Coast Guard and we lived in Arkansas, Texas and North Carolina. Had two sons along the way. Ironically, I ended up back in Massachusetts (was born and raised here before moving to Florida in jr. high) when he got out of the service and took a job in Gloucester. The novelty of marriage and winters soon took it's toll and he left both and moved to Florida. After the divorce, I moved to Stuart for six years so the boys could be near their father. I worked for a graphic designer there. After graduating from Martin County High, both boys wanted to come back north for college, so we came back. And I'm still here - winters and all. Both sons, unfortunately, have moved away. My oldest, Nathan, graduated from Boston College and fell in love with a girl from Columbus....guess where he lives now. Adam, my youngest, graduated from Georgetown and is now in law school in DC. I miss them both a lot. I've been in graphic design and photography for many years. Currently the design and production manager for a national home design magazine.

I enjoyed RBHS a lot, but I was pretty shy and was more a behind-the-scenes kind of girl. I didn't appear in Brigadoon, but I did paint the scenery. I was the geek who won the regional science fair. (I think we went all the way to Ft. Pierce...seemed so far away at the time.) But I had a lot of fun - going to the beach, dancing at Casters and after-football dances - and I made some awesome friends. I really enjoy catching up with everyone at each reunion. The really cool thing about keeping these friendships is that during those years we all knew each in a way that no one else knew us and we all lived through some amazing times together - historically and culturally - and I think it creates a sort of time capsule that we all share and relate to. It's a nice sort of link to have.
