I remember attending Jr. Assembly dances each month of Jr. High for what my parents considered my edification. We were supposed to learn how to dance a few basic steps of the shag, square dance, charleston, etc. but mostly it was to learn proper etiquette. I think my dread for each occasion was only surpassed by that of Geoffrey Wilcox. One highlight of each event was Geoffrey and I attempting to evade the chaperones, not for any highjinx, just to be able to sit out a dance or two. We both had at least 2 left feet and were a danger to those who were actually able to dance. At one particluar square dance, we tripped and got tangled up and all of the dancers in our square fell to the floor. Geoff and I laughed so hard that Hawiian punch came out of my nose, and he threw up. I have never laughed hard enough for that to happen again. As a result, we were made to sit out a dance. That was our "briar patch;" mission accopmlished! I remember Geoff as having an excellent sense of humor and a fondness for pulling jokes and tricks on his friends. I pray for wife, Virginia, who is very ill and for for his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, who is a sweet and intelligent young lady he would have been very proud of.
