Richard James "Rick" Winn

Richard James Winn, age 68, passed away at Piedmont Medical Center on Sunday, April 24, 2022.  A lifelong native of Rock Hill, Rick was born on June 17, 1953 and was the oldest son of Arlen and Lauvenia Winn. 

Rick is survived by his wife, Cathy; his children, Micah, Jonathan, Ben (Kara), and Carolyn Bailey (Jackie); grandchildren, Neelie Bailey, Savannah Winn, Morgan Kate Winn, Silas Winn, Beau Winn, and Lydia Winn; his siblings Bruce Winn (Terry), Drew Winn, Susan Westbrook (Charlie); and his mother Lauvenia Winn.

Rick was a follower and servant of Jesus Christ, and a faithful, active member of his church.  He retired from Duke Energy’s Catawba Nuclear Station in 2016. In his retirement, he enjoyed serving on mission trips, spending time with his grandchildren, and turkey hunting and fishing. 

Rick was a loving husband of 46 years, and devoted father, PopPop, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was known for being gentle, faithful, kind, humble, joyful, and a great teacher.  His legacy lives on through his family, friends, church family, and the lives he has sustained through the gift of organ donation.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 PM, at Providence Baptist Church, 1947 Old Friendship Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. Whitesell Funeral Home is serving the family.
