In Loving Memory

Susan Wilson

Susan Lee Wilson, "Mimi", 70, of Winter Garden, FL passed away peacefully
while surrounded by her sons, on November 6, 2012
after a long battle with several illnesses.
She was born March 19, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan
to Lawrence and Mary Taylor Wilson.

Susan graduated from Rocky River High School in Rocky River, OH in 1960
and Hillsdale College in Michigan in 1964.
She had an adventurous (and a little nutty) approach to life
that endeared her to family and friends.
She had a special passion for the beach and gardening,
and also later for being actively involved with her grandchildren.
She loved rocking out to The Rolling Stones, having Survivor Finale Parties,
and getting fired up when her favorites were voted off Dancing With The Stars.

Susan is survived by her 3 sons and spouses,
Norman (and Juli) Allmen of Milton, GA,
Christopher (and Susan) Allmen of Winter Garden, FL
and Matthew Allmen of the planet earth (his mother insisted he was not homeless);
5 grandchildren: Mitchell, Andrew, Dylan, Jake and Taylor;
and her brothers Barry Wilson and Lee Wilson of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jane Wilson.

Sue passed away after a long battle with Scleroderma.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Scleroderma Foundation in her name.

Update on Sue:

Sue's sons planned a memorial in a beautiful building of old Florida architecture in her adorable small town of Winter Garden, just west of Orlando.  The building sat on a gorgeous piece of property over looking Lake Apakoa. Everyone was encouraged to wear casual funky clothes as it was a celebration of her life. First her two brothers spoke and told their favorite funny memories. Then each one of her sons spoke and they couldn't praise her enough. She was so close them them and their children. Her brother Lee's wife has a beautiful voice and she sang "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones, one of Sue's favorite songs. Then a guitarist, personal friend of the family, played and sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Then different relatives were free to stand and say something about Sue.

They had beautiful pictures of her all around the room. Most of them were absolutely gorgeous. In some of them, she was young in a bathing suit wearing a scarf and big sun glasses....very Hollywood. As a young mother, she was really stylish and pretty.

Then there was a slide presentation set to her favorite music choices. It started with her being very young and right up to the end.

Norman was there. He sat in front of us flanked by his sisters Gail and Lee.

Hi all,
Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions. Sue's sons planned a memorial in a beautiful building of old Florida architecture in her adorable small town of Winter Garden, just west of Orlando.
