Evelyn Daley (Reader)

Evelyn A. Reader, 66, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Wednesday morning, September 29, 2021 at her home. EVELYN ANN (DALEY) READER was born November 10, 1954, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late H. Max Daley and Louise (Cox) Daley. She lived in Texas, Washington, Idaho, Louisiana, and Oregon. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1972 and attended Umpqua Community College. She was united in marriage to David Paul Reader on October 27, 1975, at Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg, Oregon. Dave and Evelyn resided in the Roseburg community for 37 years before moving to Forest Grove in 2013. One of Evelyn’s first and favorite jobs was at Zales Jewelry Store. She also helped Dave open and operate a small business called Classic Video, and she worked many years as a church secretary. Evelyn was a member of Vine Street Baptist Church, Community Baptist Church, and The Crossing Community Fellowship. She served in many ways at most of these churches. Among her special interests, Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, singing, and playing music. She taught herself to play the piano, organ, guitar (6 string and 12 string acoustic), banjo, and dulcimer. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, H. Max Daley, and her brother, Bill Daley. Survivors include her husband, David Reader, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; her mother, Louise Daley, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jayme and Richard Sanchez, of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Brianna and Jeremy Waldridge, of North Plains, Oregon; and her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Mayu Daley, of Redondo Beach, California, and Paul and Bambi Daley, of Redmond, Washington. Also surviving are her four grandchildren: Dana Reader, Elena Sanchez, Diego Sanchez, and Asher Waldridge.
