Donna, thank you for this beautiful rememberance of Susan.  You described her so well.  I remember her as a quiet and strong presence with a bemused expression that always made me feel she was seeing something important that eluded the rest of us.That she and her partner engaged in many acts of kindness sounds just like her.  So sad that her life was cut short.

Thank you Donna you bring her presence back into my mind...and she was lovely and funny and kind and so sharp under those fuzzy edges

Donna- --this is such an evocative description--the image of Susan and Peggy walking to 14th st from Roslyn captures something lovely and specific about the mix of spirit and naivte in their friendship.  Thanks for this

The thing that always impressed me about Susan was that she never let how smart she was get in the way of having fun.  She was one of those people who spent lots of time quietly watching and listening, without saying much, but when she spoke, had interesting things to say.  The world was there to amuse her, and she was able to share that delight with the rest of us.  That, and she was sweet to the core.

Very lovely and evocative piece about Susan .  And if the story about walking the top of the school until "Slutskyied" isn't an RHS story, what is.

Thank you Donna. Susan was a special person who always made others feel as if they mattered and were special. I never saw her dismiss anyone as high schoolers can often do at that age.

It's wonderful reading all these recollections of Susan. I felt very sad when I heard of her death. She was one of the sweetest and most unusual people I have ever met. She had a tinkling, musical laugh that delighted me. If I remember correctly (no guarantees!) she and I were the "Class Dreamers" in the yearbook. I feel honored to be linked to such a one as she, even in such a frivolous way.

These comments and memories are so wonderful, so apt, each so vividly 'recalling' her.

Though I'd catch flak from her for saying so, I believe Susan was, in her way (if one can apply a New Testament metaphor to a good Sephard) a fisher of souls.  I know she rescued me.

Thank you so much, everyone.
