You can use the Easy Invite tool to help us find missing classmates and invite them to join our class. Class Connection also provides a Visit Another Class feature that allows you to browse around other classes.

Here's a few important things you should know:

  • Everything you do on Class Connection is mirrored on our class web site. Everything you do on our class web site is mirrored on Class Connection. I.E. they work as one. Class Connection is just a convenient method of participating with our class from the Facebook environment.
  • Class Connection is 100% as private and secure as our class web site. No personal/private data whatsoever is shared with Facebook. The Class Connection developers made an overview video about the topic of privacy here: https://www.youtube.com/_eHf7tWS8sE

A Little History of Our School

The area around Roxana began offering education in 1802 with the construction of Gilham's Pasture School on the northeast corner of what is now 13th Street and Edwardsville Road in Wood River, the current site of a Dairy Queen. Other general schools opened and closed throughout the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century; these include Brushy Grove School (not to be confused with its later incarnation, Brushey Grove School) from 1858 to 1969, Roxana School from 1918 to 1926, Edison School from 1926 to 1936, and Burbank School starting in 1936. Burbank was built as a WPA project, and was named after botanist Luther Burbank.

The school district did not have a secondary school at that time; Roxana students went to other districts for their education instead, primarily Wood River High School, which had opened in 1925. In 1939, citizens of Roxana and part of neighboring Wood River voted to form a new school district; the high school itself was built in 1941 and has been added to throughout its tenure.

RHS has grown considerably from its beginnings; the school now contains over twenty-five full classrooms, two gyms, an auditorium, a cafeteria, a weight room, a baseball field, a football field, a cinder track, six tennis courts, a full bus garage, and entire buildings dedicated to science, family and consumer sciences, technology, and automotive education. A junior high school and the school district's administrative offices also adjoin the high school building.

Great Advice . . .

As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300 watch or $30.00 watch - they both tell the same time.

Whether we carry a $300 or $30.00 wallet/handbag, the amount of money inside is still the same.

Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq. ft., the loneliness is the same.

Hopefully, one day you will realize your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.

Whether you fly first class or economy, if the plane goes down,  you go down with it.

Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have family, old friends,  brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, sing with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven and earth.   That is true happiness!

DID YOU KNOW...

Those who were born in the 50’s 60’s ,70’s and early 80’s are the last generation who played in the street. During our childhood we “walked” over a mile a day when we played & played “hide & seek” outside at night with no worries or fear of anything bad happening to us.  We are the first generation who played video games and the last to record songs off the radio onto a cassette tape. We learned how to program a VCR before anyone else, we were the first to play from Atari to Nintendo…We are the generation of Tom & Jerry, Looney Toons, & Captain Kangaroo. We traveled in cars without seat belts or air bags, lived without cell phones and caller ID. We did not have fax machines, flat screens, surround sound, I pods, Facebook, Twitter, computers or the internet, and through it all we had a great time.
