I got my Certified Dental Assistant degree at UNC Chapel Hill. Worked for Dr. Fred Chandler & Dr. John Bradsher for over 38 years. Received an award from Roxboro/Person County Council for Women in 2001 for Significant Contribution to the Community. In 1994 received the Roxboro Rotary Club Vocational Award for Service Before Self. Volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Started the Relay for Life in 1990. Raised over $1.7 million from 1990 to 2002. Received numerous awards for top fundraiser in the nation. I also received award from Piedmont Community College for one in 30 people who have made a difference in Person & Caswell Counties in the last 30 years. Was also honored to be the Grand Marshall of the 1999 Christmas Parade. Was in business with my son-in-law, Brian Horner for over 20 years. We operated Carpet One Floor & Home in Roxboro. We did all kinds of flooring, countertops, and cabinets. I have enjoyed the adventure. I am member of Theresa Baptist Church where I served on personnel board and nominating committee. I am also on the mission team. We travel all over doing God's work. God has blessed me with a beautiful daughter, Tabatha. She is a Nurse Practitioner at North State Medical Center. She and Brian have two healthy boys and a girl. Cy was born in 2003 and Tabian was born in 2004 and Bentley was born Sept 28, 2010. I thought I would never get married again. But I think I have found a fine Christian man that treats me like a queen. God has been good to me and I truly feel Blessed. I did not change the last name, I was born a Clayton and will now die a Clayton. In 2016, Carpet One was awarded "The Small Business of the Year" by Piedmont Comm. College and Roxboro Chamber of Commerce. In 2017 Piedmont Comm. College awarded me with WOMEN OF DISTINCTION for Excellence in Business for my contributions to our local community and beyond. Sold the Carpet One business April-2022. Now I am ready to travel and spend time enjoying life. I feel so BLESSED!
