Pleasant Garden - Mr. Ricky Donald Marshall, 53, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.
Ricky was born in Person County on January 1, 1960. He was currently employed as Director of Network Development with DukeNet and formerly with Duke Power, Palmetto Net and Clarity Communications. Known as “Coach Marshall”, he was a coach for girls’ softball, travel softball, boys’ baseball, girls’ and boys’ basketball. He was a competitive player and an avid Duke fan. Heenjoyed watching his daughters play ball and never missed an opportunity to support them. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his daughter, Allie, and traveling with his family to the beach and mountains. Ricky was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He displayed his love for God in many ways. He was always there to serve and help others in need, which brought great joy to him. Ricky was a memory maker and wanted to make a difference by making everyone feel loved and special. He loved being with his family, was a protector, a loving and loyal son, husband, father, friend and coach.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest L. Marshall; sister, Jo Ann Jones; and nephew, Matt Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan McLawhorn Marshall; daughters, Allison and Kaytie Marshall; mother, Valeria Blalock Marshall; brother, Larry Marshall and wife Meryle; mother and father-in-law, Ken and Sylvia McLawhorn; brother-in-law, Ken McLawhorn; sister-in-law, Cindi Fields and husband, Greg; nephews, Chris Jones and Gregory Fields; nieces, Lindsay and Molly Fields; great nephew, Ryder Jones; and dear friend Eddie Pegram.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.
