Gary Lester Flinders

HOOPER - Gary L. Flinders passed away Dec 8, 2014 at the age of 59 after a long battle with many physical Illnesses. Gary was born in Ogden, Utah December 24, 1954 to Elda Purser and Lester A Flinders (He didn't enjoy being a Christmas baby). He went to school in Hooper and graduated from Roy High School, where he was very musical, then attended Weber State College for a year. He was very talented in many things but music was his love. He could play many instruments and played for many years with the band "Cascades".

He fulfilled an honorable mission to Florida, and loved and lived the gospel with a strong testimony.
He worked at McKay Dee Hospital as a grounds keeper and Phlebotomist then as a lab tech at Western Zirconium for over 20 years until his health made a medical retirement necessary.

He met Julie Lewis at McKay Dee and they were married May 4, 1978 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had three children: David, Lisa and Ryan.

Gary loved his family, farming and his friends. Some of his happiest moments were when he was on the tractor working around on the farm. He was a big man with a giant heart who was kind and Christ like to all.

He is survived by his wife Julie, son David, daughter and son in law Lisa and Jake Gabbitas and his siblings Gwen (Dennis) Dinger, Max (Beverly) Flinders, Gale Farrow and Joy Flinders, his mother in law Afton Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.
