Jane and I were "Lasalette" girls along with Ann M and Kathy V. It took us a few months to be accepted by the Shrine girls our freshman year. Jane had an older sister who she greatly admired. She wanted to be just like her. I remember when I was working summers and holidays as a unit secretary at Royal Oak Beaumont that Jane's dad was in the ICU where I was working....dying of cancer. He had experimental implants put in his tongue to fight it but died after two weeks. The Dougherty girls were devastated as well as their mom. Each day he was there I would go into his room and pray with him. Jane always appreciated that and told me so at our 10th reunion.
It was sad news to many when Jane passed. She was a bright and happy light to her remaining family and friends. Rest in peace Dear Jane.
