Life Legacy


Dennis Edward Lowe, 62, of Russellville, died on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Bowman Road Hospice in Little Rock. Dennis won his victory after a 3 month battle with cancer and when he passed he was surrounded by family and friends who were singing his spirit to home. His friends called him by his nickname, "Shypoke" and all agreed that he was a man who loved having fun and helping people in times of need.


The son of Luther and Florence Mullins Lowe, Dennis was born August 27, 1948 in Paris, Arkansas. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1965 and joined the Arkansas National Guard. He married the love of his life, Helen Bryant July 1, 1977 at Bristow, Oklahoma.


He was the owner of Lowes Auto Parts where he sold parts for cars and trucks and freely handed out goodwill to his fellow man. Dennis was very active in his community. He was co-owner of the London Corner Market. Appointed by Governor Beebe, he was a Jail Commissioner of the 5th Judicial district which serves Pope, Johnson and Franklin Counties. He served for many years as a member of the Pope County Quorum Court and as a Justice of the Peace he married hundreds of couples.


He was a member of the London Civic Club, Pope County Cattlemen's Association and the London Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the London First Baptist Church where he enjoyed being a greeter and served as a trustee. He enjoyed cattle ranching, Arkansas Razorback football, discussing politics and spending time with his grandchildren. Dennis also took great pride in being a founding member of the WWW Cattle Company.


He is survived by his wife, Helen Lowe of Russellville; a son, Justin Lowe of Russellville; a daughter, Leslie Ridgway & husband Daryl of Russellville; Grandchildren, Kyle Edward Lowe-Lemings, Presley Burgess and Ryleigh Ridgway, all of Russellville; brother; Douglas Lowe of Little Rock; sister, Luthina Montgomery of Russellville; many other family members and a host of friends.


Funeral will be at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church of London. Rev Danny Green and Mr. Kent Dollar will officiate. Burial will be at East Point Cemetery in Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
