After high school, I attended Arkansas Tech and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Through the Baptist Student Union at Tech, I met and ended up marrying Dale Walker of Lamar. Dale earned his English degree at Tech. We then went to Memphis where he attended Mid-America Baptist Seminary and I got an accounting job in Memphis. After he earned his Master's degree, we went to Brazoria, Texas where he was a youth minister. From there, in 1994, we went to Chesapeake, Virginia where he served as a youth minister also.

After 14 years in youth ministry, he knew the Lord was calling him to pastor so we came to Sturgis, Mississippi where he was the pastor of Sturgis Baptist Church. In 2001, we moved to Osceola, Arkansas for him to pastor. During this time, Dale earned his doctorate from Andersonville Seminary. Yeah, we were back in Arkansas again after many years away! But YUCK!! You don't ever want to live in Osceola. Actually, you don't ever want to live anywhere on the eastern side of the state! The mosquitoes will carry you away for one thing. And the schools are horrible for another thing. I went through the Non-Traditional Teacher Certification program to teach 2nd grade so that my kids could get in a better school. Hallelujah, after all of the traveling around, the Lord has brought us to Concord Baptist Church in Alma, Arkansas. We are now only an hour from Russellville where we started out.

We have been married over 20 years and we have a 10th grade daughter, Robyn, and a 7th grade son, Bryan. I am a stay at home mom leading our women's ministry at church. That is my heart-beat, encouraging and counseling women. I love to garden, cook, decorate, read, watch college football or my son's football. He will be playing now for the Alma Airedales. He is the starting center. My daughter sings like a bird and plays the bass and acoustic guitar. Our whole family is musical. My son plays the drums, husband plays all guitars and sings and I just sing in the family band. Can you believe that Mat Whitworth is my kid's choir director at Alma? He does an excellent job. We learned great choir skills from Barbara Shepherd! Now my kids will go to All-Region and All-State choir competitions just like I did in the same region. That's neat because I didn't think I would get back to Arkansas and now I'm running into people I went to high school and college with.
