Janice Clair Svendsen, age 55, of Rancho Murieta, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013. She was born to Harry D. Smernes and the late Helen K. Smernes on March 4, 1958, being the first baby girl born at The Queen of The Valley Hospital in Napa, California. Family and friends were Janice's passion. She loved to spend time in her garden, being with her loved ones, spoiling her grandchildren and doting over her dogs, Bella and Tanner. Janice was a part of the Kaiser Permanente family for 20+ years. She brought a ray of sunshine to every room she entered and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Janice is survived by her husband Powell 'Bunky' Svendsen, her father Harry Smernes, her daughter Holly Kinney (Brian Kinney), son Gary Magana (Sarah Magana), stepdaughter Jeana Svendsen, stepson Eric Svendsen (Laura Svendsen), grandchildren Ashley Helen, Kanon Harry, Arianna Nicholle, and Cole Michael, sister Jeanne Godwin (Ed Godwin), brother Nick Smernes, and nieces Shelby, Sierra, and Clare. The memorial service and reception will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Elks Lodge #6, 6446 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA. Please wear something with sparkles in honor of Janice's sparkly personality. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA or to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

Smernes and the late Helen K. Smernes on March 4, 1958, being the first baby girl born at The Queen of The Valley Hospital in Napa, California. Family and friends were Janice's passion. She loved to spend time in her garden, being with her loved ones, spoiling her grandchildren and doting over her dogs, Bella and Tanner. Janice was a part of the Kaiser Permanente family for 20+ years. She brought a ray of sunshine to every room she entered and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Janice was a life long friend that I knew way back in kindergarten and from living on the same street.She was the life of the party and a wonderful friend. God Bless her and her family.

I remember Janice from "the old neighborhood" she was always a nice person and my heart goes out to her family and friends.  She will be missed.  God be with you all.
