Jon was born in Los Angeles to Morris and Sarah (Friedson) on July 27, 1950. He passed away at home in Sacramento due to complications from cancer on May 4. His early years were spent in Van Nuys, until his parents moved to Sacramento in 1964 to start an egg ranch, and later an insurance agency. He attended C.K. McClatchy and then Kennedy High School. A former Manager of Sears, a professional photographer and party DJ after hours, Jon eventually joined his mother in the family business. He was an Insurance Agent for over 40 years, returning to CSUS to complete a BA in Communications at age 50. Jon was a staunch Leftist and Ally. Everyone was his friend - enemies and exes were no exception. Exchange students called him their American dad. He was a lover of loud music, an ASL signer, an avid sci-fi fan, and enthusiast of all things British. He was an “original” owner of a 1961 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller from which he sold eggs door to door as a teenager and took to rallies and car shows. He announced benign activities with a radio voice and was known to answer the phone with a joke. Jon tended a lush garden and dabbled in chili competitions. He cared deeply for many philanthropic causes and served as President of Kiwanis of East Sacramento and a board member of the Kiwanis Family House. To honor his memory, consider giving time to volunteer in your community or donations to your favorite charity.
