Gene Bryan Sackett

It is with great sadness that the family of Gene Sackett announces his passing after a courageous battle against cancer on Thursday May 31, 2018 at the age of 67. He was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers (Jerry and Steve). He is survived by his loving wife, Jill of 36 years and sons Ryan (Kim) and Eric and granddaughter Madison. Gene will also be fondly remembered by brother David (Rachel), sister Cindy, mother-in-law Joan, brothers-in-law Mike (Evelia) and Mark (Michele), many nieces and nephews and friends. A native of Sacramento, Gene attended CK Mc Clatchy HS and was a career electrician, spending many days keeping the Capitol glowing. Gene loved his LA Dodgers and was a phenomenal baseball player himself, being drafted by the Pirates in 1969 and opted to play for Sac City College in 1970 which earned him a contract with the LA Dodgers. A celebration of life will be held at Christian Brothers High School on Friday June 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances in his name may be made to the Ron Limeberger Fund (Christian Brothers HS) or to Seasons Hospice Foundation 8537 Solution Center Chicago, IL 60677. A special thanks to the Seasons Hospice team who provided amazing care.
