He was very sweet. While at Cal, we took Spanish in Crocker classroom from Miss Gomez. One day she had him play his trumpet for us. Very sad about his passing (ironically in '84 I came to know the husband of someone else on the same plane). God bless, Joe.
Joe had just finished building his father's home in Penn Valley, and was leaving for Mexico City to build a church, when the plane he was on crashed. It was 10/31/79. We have one son, who is 38 years old today. Even though Joe and I divorced, we still remained best friends. He is truly missed. (Diane Latino Perry)
Sad to hear that Joe is gone. Joe and I played on many teams together and against each other many times in baseball and basketball since we were small kids. He was gifted in all sports and was a great team mate. He helped us win the metro basketball championship our first year at McClatchy. Good guy to have as a friend. frank
