Although we were not very close by the end of high school, Steven and I knew one another from a very early age. In fact, even before kindergarten we were playing with matches and burned down a fence and got very excited when the fire trucks arrived. Can someone tell me more about his passing?

Steve was my great, dear friend until his death in the 1980's. Steve worked as a certified psychiatic nurse at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. He received disability retirement and lived in the Land Park area until his death from a heart attack. Although I lived in Boise Idaho, Steve and I kept in regular contact. Many of our junior high and high school days were spent at his parent's Fallen Leaf Lake cottage doing good things. He loved to play his D12 Martin guitar. I think of Steve often.

Thank you Walton for writing about Steve as many of us wondered when he passed away and what he had been doing prior to his death.

Cyndy, Thank you so much for sharing your comments regarding Steve. I am sure that it brought much comfort to his family and friends to know that you were there during his last moments.

Thank you, Walton and Cynthia. I very much appreciate knowing this.

Cynthia, for many years I worked with terminally ill patients and became known as one who would "be there at the end." I have often referred to those moments as deeply intimate, both with the person and with the family. I can imagine what it must have meant for you to sit with Steve as he passed.

I have very fond memories of Steve, his quiet nature, humor, and fun loving spirit... he is and will always be missed, as I was saddened to learn of his passing..

whenever I think of Steve I always remember the time a group of us (including Steve) were riding our bicycles and we decided to catch a ride, as I recall, in Walton Low's van (Walt was that your van?). Our bikes were hanging out the back door as we were headed to Steve's house. When we got to Steve's place the police were waiting for us. What memories!!! Thanks for letting us know of Steve.

I met Steve in choir @ Sac City in 1969. Fell in love. Traveled w/Merri McKee & hiked into the Grand Canyon & other fine adventures. Lived together in Sacto. & the foothills as 'hippies' hosting friends to play @ the river, S. Stuart, Roger F., Doug P. Merle, etc. and became close friends w/Walton during the early 70's. So through Steve, Walton directed my life by getting me into radio @ UCD (kdvs)where I met my husband to date.
Steve & I drifted apart, kept in contact though I'd move away from the area. Appreciate knowing the special care he received during his exit. A special love for a dearly departed. Nice to read his friends remember him.
