Margaret Umbach Hoppe

After leaving MLS I went to a 3 year nursing program in St. Louis, Mo to become an RN, and practiced as an RN in Medical and Coronary Intensive Care for 8 years.

Soon after that we moved back to Saginaw where I became a real estate broker off and on for the next 40 years. Most of my years were spent as the General Manager of CMW Real Estate.
After 3 retirements, my last one was in 2008, sold my family home and moved to Howell, MI.

Retirement is the best. After 3 years of testing what life is like in Florida I bought a home down here to spend my winters. I guess I am an official snowbird.
I am fortunate to live in a neighborhood where I have many friends with many doggie friends.
I don't really have big events, rather daily wonderful experiences. I could be playing croquette, floating in my pool, on my friends boat, enjoying a social event, sitting at the tiki bar watching the sun set under the bridge, enjoying my family and friends visits, at the beach collecting shells and sharks teeth, walking my dogs, or just enjoying the florida landscape.

I am looking forward to several events:

Rachel is graduating from med school May of this year and heading to Indianapolis for her residency.
In November I am going on a bareboat sailing trip with two other couples to the British Virgin Islands.
We have another Umbach family reunion in the summer.
And, of course, our 50 year class reunion.

Attending MLS were some of the great years of my life. I was fortunate to be a town student with a car, so was happy to transport my friends to places (although it was breaking the rules). I remember:
-the long lunch hours so we could go to Fuzzy's
-choir, choir tour and concerts
-watching the world series in the student union
-skipping class and taking my dad's convertible for a ride
-taking 3 religion classes my first year at MLS so I could catch up.
-slumber parties
-and having a great boyfriend with whom I spent much of my time.
