Absent Friends

Patricia A. Tunney (Westphal)

Patricia A. Tunney (Westphal)

Patricia Ann (Tunney) "Trish" Westphal

October 3rd, 1957 - April 10th, 2023
Age: 65 years

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 10, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare – Harrison after a long illness at the age of 65. Patricia Ann Tunney was born on October 3, 1957 to the late George and Evelyn Marie Tunney in Saginaw, Michigan. Patricia attended St. Helen’s Elementary and North Intermediate before graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1976. After high school she married Greg Westphal and immediately started her family by welcoming her first son, Matthew. After a brief stint in Florida and the birth of her twins Jonathan and Joshua, she came back to Saginaw to raise her family. Patricia worked at Dow Chemical as a lab tech for several years, but her main focus in life was dedicated to raising her three boys and taking care of her parents, Evelyn and George in their later years. Her contributions and sacrifices in those regards will never be forgotten.

Years later, Patricia loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on fantastic adventures. She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Saginaw and was an avid Young & the Restless, Survivor and Wheel of Fortune fan. She also enjoyed traveling to Northern Michigan vineyards, casinos and the Mackinaw Straits with family for vacations. A little known gem is that she was also the lucky charm two years running for Michigan Football to end the drought with that team down south (Go Blue)!

Trish will be deeply missed by her three sons and their families, Matthew (Heidi) Westphal; Jonathan (Cere) Westphal; and Joshua (Kylie) Westphal; two grandchildren, Allie and Carson; five siblings, two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law in spirit: Mark Tunney, Susan (Chuck) Knox, Mary Kay Tunney, Tammy (Dave) Wittkop, and Tommy (Yuko) Tunney; special niece, Taylor Wittkop; and Fur babies Kitty and Frazier. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and George, and one sibling, Brian Steven.

Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with service at 2:00 p.m. Pastoral Associate Tori Little from Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (formerly St. Helen Catholic Church) will preside.
