Swanson, Steward, and Kattke would be stunned to know that I am a teacher. After eventually graduating from Northern State in Aberdeen, I have spent most of my career near Salem, at Bridgewater and Hanson (Alexandria). I am now in my 5th year of teaching middle school social studies, language arts, and PE at McCook Central in Salem. I am also the boys basketball coach here. These days we have an athletics "co-op" with Montrose, our sports teams are now the "McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars, but most refer to us as "MCM".
I married Laura in 1974. She is from George, IA, and is the director of the business office at Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. She has worked there since we moved to Bridgewater in 1977. Our son Chris is a pharmacist for Lewis Drug in Sioux Falls. He also is a part-time assistant basketball coach for Mount Marty College. Our daughter Dana attended Mount Marty, and even had a work study job in Sister Joyce's (Feterl) office. Now she works full time at Mount Marty, as an admissions counselor, and is also an assistant WBB coach at the college.
UPDATED: Retired from teaching eight years ago, but have kept coaching BB. Needed a winter hobby. Laura retired after 39 years at the Mitchell hospital, and we moved to Sioux Falls a few years ago, where both of our kids live.
Chris is a pharmacist at Lewis Drug still. Still single, someone will have to do all the work on that. Daughter Dana is a school counselor and JV GBB coach at Harrisburg School. Married to Chad Bigge from Tri-Valley, they have a 5-year old son, Brooks, and an 8-mo old daughter Jules.
