Gail Cordery (Ferguson)

Renee Nougaret Hansen -  shared this obit with me 2-9-2022 - it was not posted in either paper - We have lost another classmate:

Gail Cordery Ferguson - 10-30-1951 to 2-6-2022

Gail completed her valiant battle against gallbladder cancer on February 6, 2022, while surrounded by family members in her home in Salt Lake City. She passed peacefully returning home to her Heavenly Father.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Megan; her sister, Lois (Randy, living); and grandson, Oliver. She is survived by her husband, Marc; children: Jenny (Neal), Allen (Brittany), Megan (Jason), Adam, Abigail (Wesley), and Laura (Matt); sisters, Kaye (Dan) and Sara; as well as 19 grandchildren.

Gail was born October 30, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School and received an associate degree in business from the University of Utah. She met her eternal love, Marc, and was sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple on January 12, 1973. They found happiness in raising their children and supporting each other through life’s journey. They were able to serve together as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first as full-time senior missionaries, as institute instructors at Southern Virginia University, and then as service missionaries in the floral department at church headquarters.

Gail touched many lives in her career as a hospitality specialist. She worked in hospitality at the Hilton for over 20 years. After retirement, she continued to provide service to those around her through church work and community service. She also used her talents of sewing and quilting to serve her friends and family. Her quilts and blankets not only give warmth and comfort they are a symbol of the love she had for each recipient. She loved to serve those around her and did so with all her heart and strength.

Gail’s family thanks all the healthcare workers that helped her through all her treatments and time in and out of hospitals. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Intermountain Health Center, as well as hospice nurses, aides, and physical therapists who helped her at home. Thank you also to all of those who sent love through calls, texts, flowers, and food to help comfort her through this difficult time.

Friends and family are invited to attend Gail’s viewings on Thursday, February 10, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 11, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4350 South 1100 East, Millcreek, Utah. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the same location. The interment is at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 500 North N St., Salt Lake City, Utah.

Services will also be streamed live (See the Jenkins-Soffe "Events" page for Gail Ferguson).
