Maile Hutchings (Evans)

Stephanie Marie Holt
1957-2015

Our sweet wife, mom and grandmother, after a long illness, returned into the arms of her heavenly father and beloved parents, Carol and Curtis Knight, on May 26, 2015. She was born on July 17, 1957 and married her loving husband Scott William Holt on September 19, 1980. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 5, 2007.

Stephanie is survived by her loving husband, Scott, of 35 years, two sons, Daniel Scott (Tammy), Steven William, and three grandsons-Jaden, Rylan and Gavin. She was the oldest of six children and is survived by her siblings Colene (Kris) Pedersen, David Knight (Michelle), Phyllip (Cheryl) Knight, Mary Ellen (Ron) Neerings, and Sandra (CyDore) Dennison.

She became an LPN and worked several years helping others until she received an injury to her back. This was probably due to the fact that she loved to work in geriatrics which was mostly at nursing homes. She had a lot of compassion for older individuals.

She enjoyed all handicrafts and created many beautiful jewelry pieces. Her crocheting included many afghans, scarfs, doilies and etc. She loved all wildlife although she at one time commented on an ugly horse which in reality was a moose. She loved all birds and owned two parrots, one an African Gray which mimicked everything (including Stephanie's voice) which she would use to call Stephanie's little mini pin dog Fidget back to his room several times a day. I'm sure this drove the little dog crazy. The bird's favorite was the Cadbury commercial - cluck, cluck, meow, cluck, cluck, meow. The parrot would also tell you off, sometimes in not very nice words if you told him to shut up. When we asked Stephanie where he learned such words, she said "at the shop before I owned him - I promise."

She loved to travel and especially enjoyed Sea World and Hawaii. She was dreaming of returning to Hawaii.

Stephanie loved the LDS church and served in many callings, but her favorite was organist at the Temple. She also played the violin and the piano and prior to her medical problems had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to listen to music, her favorite being that of Neil Diamond.

She enjoyed family so much and one of the highlights of her life was when her siblings gave her a surprise 53rd birthday party. She was easily pleased with any gift received (large or small). She loved all of the time she could spend with her husband, sons and especially with her grandsons. She is already missed, but it has been hard for her family to see her suffer with numerous medical problems for the last 15 to 20 years.

Thanks so much to all of you who have expressed your feelings and helped in any way to make this easier for Scott and his family.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10 a.m., with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. at the Hillsdale LDS Ward, 3175 South 3450 West, West Valley City, Utah. For complete obituary please visit www.UtahFamilyFuneralCare.com
