Lorin E. John died April 17, 2015 in Lehi, Utah of causes incident to metastatic cancer. Mr. John was born June 22, 1958 in Provo, Utah to Edward Charles and Eleanor Mary Barlow John.
Grew up in Utah and New Mexico, graduated from Brighton High School in 1975. After attending Dixie Jr. College in St. George, he served a mission for the LDS church iin Northern France and Southern Belgium from 1977 to 1979. Upon his return, he attended Brigham Young University graduating with a B.S. in Business Management from BYU. Mr. John relocated to southern California and embarked on a 23 year career with the J.C. Penney Co, working in stores in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Montclair in various management capacities. In 2004, he relocated again back to Utah with his family where he worked for several different companies in management, sales and marketing.
As a lifelong member of the LDS church, he held many callings in Scouting, Sunday School, and with the High Priest Group. He maintained that his favorite was the two years he spent as an early morning Seminary Teacher.
He always enjoyed being with his family, especially in the outdoors. In fact, he was happiest on the trails, be it for a few hours or several days, exploring the high ranges of the west in any season of the year, either with scout troops, his children, friends, or by himself. His close contact with nature gave him a profound respect for God's creation and a determination to be a good steward of that creation. The last few years of his life, he also learned to enjoy fly fishing on the Provo River after attending a fishing retreat for men with cancer.
Mr. John is survived by his wife Julie and daughter Chantal, as well as his mother Eleanor John, siblings; Keith (Gloria), Diana (Adam) Oaks, Coleen Long, David, Oliver (Laura), Patrick (Kristine) and Perry (Jamie). He was preceded in death by a son, Brian and his father, Edward John.
