Jane Marie Zimmerman, beloved daughter, sister and friend left this world on September 28, 2008 at her home, Rose Heath, in Nucla Colorado.  Jane was born December 10, 1954 in Grand Junction, Colorado and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She attended Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake and graduated from the University of Utah as a geology major.  Through the years, she worked as a geologist in Arizona, Nevada, Bolivia and Peru. Much of her work consisted of analyzing rock samples to determine where gold veins were most likely to exist.

Jane was a true daughter of the earth, finding beauty in rocks, birds and trees.  She loved animals and surrounded herself with pets and horses.  She often hiked the southwest deserts and mountains in her long skirts and flannel shirts.

Before moving to Nucla, Jane lived in Elko, Nevada in a house that she and Gary, a longtime companion, built from scratch on 90 acres of desert.  The house had no indoor plumbing and she would walk a great distance to the outhouse, through rattlesnake country!

Jane is survived by her father Buck, of Salt Lake City, her sisters Linda of Florida and Carol of Arizona, her aunt Pauline of Colorado and 5 nieces and nephews.  Jane now joins her mother Mary Ann and her brother-in-law Chuck.

A celebration of Jane’s life was held at Rose Heath on Saturday, October 4, 2008.

Jane was always easy going,  The most innocuous teenager.  Her grandparents presented her with this old Oldsmobile from the 1950's.  She named it Shultz Onomatopoeia.  Shultz came with these huge overstuff that made you feel like royalty as Jane chauffeured us around in her beloved vehicle.  Jane was always laughing and smiling at us in the backseat as she was driving.  Ahhh to be teenagers again.  She attends the reunions in our dreams.  Friends forever.
