Martha Gayle Hawkins (McWilliams-Roca)

September 7, 1962 - September 28, 2019

Obituary:  Martha Gayle Hawkins McWilliams-Roca

Martha was the most giving and loving woman and her generous heart knew no bounds. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and supported them in all of their endeavors. She loved hearing them make music, a gift they acquired from her. She was an accomplished piano player and singer.

Her grandchildren, “garanimals” as she called them, brought her great joy. She was fiercely loyal, strong and took a no-nonsense approach when needed, all attributes her co-workers and friends at the State Farm office can attest too! Her true passion was to love the ones close to her. She embodied the true meaning of the word friend and developed lifelong friendships. She always looked her best and drove too fast, according to her children and grandchildren.

She was a fighter and lived life on her terms. In 2014 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. For 4 ½ years she kept it at bay and continued to live life as fully as possible and refused to give in. She was very proud when people told her that she did not look sick. In mid-2019 she had a series of medical incidents that diminished her light and yet she lived to the end of her life on her terms. She remained vibrant and continued to laugh and shine until she passed.

She was preceded in death by her older brother Mark. She left behind many who loved her and will miss her incredibly. Her husband Andy Roca, her sons Christopher and Benjamin McWilliams, her parents Don and Judith Stewart Hawkins, brothers Michael and Donald, two daughters-in-law Patsy McWIlliams and Bridgett LouAnn McWIlliams.

She has 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 5 nieces and 3 nephews and two fiercely loyal friends (Leslie and Jay) from high school days.

"Those we love can never be more than a
thought away...for as long as there's a memory,
they live in our hearts to stay."
