Margaret Mary Markham (Carter)

Margaret Mary Markham (Carter)

Margaret Mary Markham Carter, better known as Peg, or nanny to her grandchildren, died from uterine cancer at the age of 60 on March 26th, 2022, in Provo, Utah, after valiantly fighting against the disease, and succeeding in many of her battles. She was born in Buffalo, New York, on December 9th, 1961 to Margaret and Richard Markham. There was almost nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family, and she expanded that family at every chance she had, taking in the friends of her children with her loving kindness, giving them a second home. To these extra children she was known as Mamma Carter. Her second love was music, and she sang to her family her entire life, and in the later part of her life she sang to the world as a part of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (formerly the Mormon Tabernacle Choir). Singing as part of the choir and raising her children were her two missions in life, and she fulfilled them both with love and courage. She continues to perform these missions in the afterlife.

Though her children and music were her first two loves, her eternal love is her husband, Jeff Carter. They celebrated their 40th anniversary earlier this year.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Carter, and their children, Spencer, Teddy (Jackie), JJ (Jenny), Sydnie, and Jesse, as well as her grandchildren, Rylee and Hudson (the children of Teddy and Jackie), and her siblings, Susan, Mary, and Tom.
