Comment #3 is in 1994: Top photo is George with Dave Dissmeyer & Raoul Gruenberg. Bottom photo is George with Raoul Gruenberg. Raoul Gruenberg had moved just back to California (Los Angeles) from Philadelphia. Raoul fly up to San Francisco to see George and his family plus Dave Dissmeyer's family.
Remembering George... We were in Homeroom 272 together. The room was way out at the far end of the buildings and it felt like being castaways from the rest of the school. Mr. Williams was not the most congenial of fellows so we were left to fend for ourselves as a homeroom and as friends. George was quiet and kind. He had a ready smile and helped make the daily trek out to 272 worth the effort. He was a great guy.
I think George is smiling up there in response to your kind and thoughtful sediments Jamie and Ron. I first met George at Herbert Hoover in the 7th grade; we hit it off right away. He was my roommate in an Oakland apartment while I was going to Cal & working part time at Levitz Furniture and he was in the Navy. I set up George on a blind date with Sophia; who he married. I could give lots of fun facts and stories about George but that will be for another time. He was a loyal and good friend; he is missed very much.
