School Story
I suppose there are many memories, good and bad, of high school. Days that really stand out would be November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy was killed. The announcement came over the loud speaker as I was leaving my locker just outside the classroom of Mr. Sacos. It was lunch time. Horrible day and weekend. Well actually horrible for months afterward until February, 1964 when the Beatles arrived on the scene. I never dreamed that forty-six years later, July13, 2010, I would be sitting in a huge soccer stadium, across the street from where our old Jordan High School used to stand, seeing Paul McCartney in person. I was in shock for days. Of course, there were all the football and basketball games, cheer leaders, Charlonians, and sluffing of course. Of course, some of us were caught after sluffing 2 days before UEA Conference and then decided to try to get away with it a third day, the Monday we returned from UEA Conference. We were caught by a Evanston Police officer, while sitting in a drugstore at the soda fountain, in Evanston, Wyoming. My arrival home from "school" that day, was not a good scene. There went my access to the 1949 Chev I was driving and my driver's license. Actually, I hated school. Hated it! Just wanted to quit and become a hairdresser. My Mom started taking me to school and a few times walked me inside. Poor Mom! But, I hung in there and graduated in 1966. Whoa, and I thought school was bad!
