I feel bad for our lost classmates who have nothing written about them. Unfortunately, I guess, no one has any information on them, or they are not remembered.
Roger, I want you to know that your picture with be with us at the reunion.
God Bless.

After reading Dorothy's comment, I remembered hearing/reading of Roger's passing -- a casualty of the Vietnam War. I recall being saddened by the news at the time. He was so young.

I did a little research and found the website that has the names of those listed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

I knew Roger well. He an I used to smoke cigarettes behind the Campfire Girls shack in the park across from the school on Morrison. He also had a hot date one Friday night in our senior year and he was sure he was going to get lucky. He wanted to use protection but was afraid to buy what he needed so he offerred to pay me to buy them for him. I will also never forget the day we learned that he was killed in Viet Nam. Bill Ingram, Joel Rossetti and I were having lunch in the student union at Hancock when we say two army guys walk into the snack bar area where Mrs. Hicock was working. Bill Ingram had just went into the Snack Bar to buy his lunch. We all heard a woman begin to scream and cry. We didn't know what was actually going on until Bill came up to our table, white as a ghost, and said Roger was killed in Viet Nam. It immediately brought that war home to all of us. Roger was a great guy and I have often thought of him over the years and the good times we had at SMHS.

I miss Roger very much.  I didn't hear about his passing until long after I came back from my tour in Viet Nam.  I worked with Roger Hill who was a Vice Principal in helping to find all SMHS alumni who didn't make it back from the War Zone.  I was representing the local VFW Post at the time. It was amazing how many former students were killed over there.

I wish I still had all that information but what I had was lost in a fire in 1993. I also wonder if the plaques that were made are still on the corridor walls at the school.  It would be nice if the list of alumni who perished was available.

I went to Washington DC in 2011.  Visited the Viet Nam wall.  I found Rogers name on it .  I put my hand on his name, bowed my head and cried like it happened yesterday.  I liked Roger.  We had a little crush thing going on in our junior year.  Just a little flirting.  He seemed like a good guy, and funny.  He made me laugh.

I had Roger in several of my classes and he was a very good buddy. We even double dated a couple of times but after aboutthe middle of 69 I lost track of him. Vaya con Dios, mi compadre.
