Bill was a Navy pilot and rose up high in the ranks.  He was a Commander of Navy base on East Coast.  He was well respected, as I meet another commander who was in the Navy with him a few years ago.  After the Navy Bill was a pilot for United Parcel Service and flew around the world delivering packages.  He and his family lived on a boat off Ventura as of our 40th reunion. My Navy husband and Bill had a good chat at the reuion about their Naval adventures.  He was looking forward to retiring soon then moving to Washington.  do not know what he died of.  He lived life on the edge and to the fullest, as he was a Vietnam era jet pilot flying off carriers.  Thank you bill for serving our country honorably for such a long time.  We were always proud of you.

Thanks, Bev, for the reminder about Bill.  I sat next to him alphabetically, in classes, so I got to know him well back in the days!  I enjoyed catching up with him at the 25th reunion, or was it the 20th????  Since my husband is a Naval Officer on nuclear submarines, we had a lot of common ground for discussion.

I saw the Navy commander who was a friend of Bill's again, he said Bill died of a heart attack while in SanDiego.  Got the impression heart attack was sudden and quick.  Bill's Navy buddies were sadden at his  death.
