Bobo was a good friend to me. His style of friendship was inclusive.... We were very different, but he was always interested in what I was up to. He encouraged me to pursue my writing. He is missed.

Bobo was a gentle spirit and a kind and very honest person!  He had a very easy going nature and never did I hear an unkind word come out of his mouth.  He was a gentleman in every way and respectful of all people! He is missed. Thanks for some wonderful memories Bobo!

Lorenzo "Bob" and I were very close even after high school - we always kept in touch.  I never forget the day he called me to tell me he had just received a death sentence, he had found out he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the doctor told him to go home and get his life in order as he only had 3 - 6 months to live.  He was shocked on how blunt the doctor was.  It was hard to hear it but harder to tell his wife and two kids.  But Bobo was a fighter.

He found out in October of 2001 just as we were getting ready to plan the 2002 Class Reunion.  Bobo swore to me he would make it to the reunion and sure enough he was there at our class reunion even though it was after his death sentence.  I and I know many classmates were so happy to see him.  He was his ever lovable self,  telling stories to make you laugh  until your sides were hurting from laughter, he still had his big smile and when he put his big arms around you to give you a hug you knew you were HUGGED!!!!!    I know many of us will remember that reunion because of him.

The next two years he fought the cancer and we talked throughout the next two years - there were triumphs and set backs but he never lost his zest for life.  His family became a big part of his life and as we talked sometimes for hours on the phone he would tell me what mischief he was creating for his family -   I know he was trying to create memories they would never forget.

The last time i talked to Bobo we were on the phone for hours till the wee hours of the morning -  I knew he was saying good bye without saying the words.  We talked about everything, life, his family, my family, our loves and our disappointments - but all in all,   we both agreed we both had a really good life. When I got off the phone that night my husband, John, asked me how it was going with Bobo and I told him he had called to say Good-Bye - even John took the news badly and we both cried that night.

Shortly after that night, i heard Bobo was in the hospital  and his wife asked if  I could come up to see him. I did, but the man laying in that bed was not Bobo to me.  He died a few days later.

Lorenzo "Bobo" Flores was one of the people in your life that touched you - it was obvious at the funeral that he had touched many of his students at CSUN and as a professor he was truly loved.  I am sure he instilled in his students the same passion for life that he had.

On a personal note, I always loved Bobo as a close and dear friend and will always remember his zest for life, laughter, pranks and jokes, and his luvable bear hugs.
